Fly magnificent Mérida! Located 680km (422 miles) SW of Caracas, Venezuela; Mérida is a picturesque and bustling college town. It’s nestled in a narrow valley between two mountain rivers, the Albarregas and Chama rivers, and flanked by two high Andean ridges, the Sierra Nevada and Sierra La Culata. Flying into Alberto Carnevalli (SVMD) airport over these lofty peaks makes approaches and take-offs particularly challenging.
Mérida's narrow streets and colonial architecture make it a great city to sightsee from the air. The roaring rivers and rugged mountain terrain make it a prime location for some serious aviation adventures. The scenery creates the Universidad de los Andes (ULA), along with lots of other landmark buildings and 3D objects including the cable tram, historical buildings and churches plus much more.
